Demuth Park’s approved pickleball schedule sets open play at 7–11 a.m. daily. Check reservation hours and opening status before visiting.

Demuth Park’s approved pickleball schedule sets daily open play from 7–11 a.m. The full operating window is 7 a.m.–10 p.m., but not all of those hours are unrestricted open play: midday is assigned to reservations, and afternoon and evening use mixes reservations with court rotation. These are the expanded complex’s operating rules, reported by The Palm Springs Post on July 27, 2026.

Opening-status check, October 3, 2026: The city’s Demuth Park Pickleball Complex page advertises a grand opening on October 21 at 4 p.m. That notice does not establish whether public play is available before the ceremony. Confirm access before traveling; the approved schedule alone is not proof that the courts are operating today.

Approved daily schedule

Time Approved court use
7–11 a.m. Open play
11 a.m.–3 p.m. One-hour court reservations
3–10 p.m. One court at each skill level remains reservable; remaining courts use a first-come, first-served rotation system

For a drop-in visit, the morning block is designated for open play. After 3 p.m., the policy also provides rotation-based access, but alongside reserved courts. Neither arrangement guarantees an immediate court when players are waiting.

The guidelines divide courts into beginner, intermediate, advanced-intermediate and advanced skill levels. Organized activities—including tournaments, leagues and private lessons—require permits; only city-authorized instructors may teach. Those requirements are described in the same Post report.

Why the opening date matters

The July report anticipated an August opening; it did not report a completed opening. An earlier Post report on construction delays identified delayed electrical switchgear needed to power the lights. Staff were considering daytime access without lighting, but had not confirmed that option.

The city’s project page, last updated July 1, 2026, likewise described energizing the lights in August as dependent on backordered equipment. Its August completion forecast should not be read as a current access notice.

The project replaces the former 12-court layout with 22 courts—a net increase of 10, not 22 additional courts, according to the city’s construction scope. That is planned facility capacity, distinct from a verified count of courts available for play on a particular day. The distinction also matters when comparing dedicated public courts with broader court counts.

Before you go

The city lists the pickleball project at 4375 E. Mesquite Avenue, Palm Springs. For current access and lighting status, use the project hotline, (760) 846-5477, listed on the city’s project updates page.

The city’s July 1 pickleball update identifies 12 temporary courts near College of the Desert’s South Hermosa Drive satellite campus, near East Baristo Road, as open for community play during construction. That notice concerns the temporary site—not the expanded Demuth complex. Ask whether those courts remain available if Demuth access has not yet begun.
